Reception

Our Reception class at The Mall is a kind, caring and welcoming start to the main school, where our youngest children can learn and grow. We are an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child is treated as an individual. From their first day in Reception, your child will receive individualised care, and excellent pastoral support, from our experienced and enthusiastic staff who will work hard to achieve the very best possible outcomes for them. We want the girls and boys to be happy, and to become confident and independent learners.

We deliver a rich and stimulating curriculum which is designed to develop skills, knowledge and understanding in a wide range of areas. We want our pupils to learn more about themselves, the world around them, find interests they did not know they have and take the first steps towards becoming confident and independent learners. From Reception, children have specialist teaching in music, physical education and swimming – taught in our purpose built theatre, sports hall and swimming pool – where we can encourage an enjoyment of physical activity, performance and the creative arts. Children quickly make progress in communication and language, mathematical skills and their understanding of the world around them. But we also want them to grow in confidence and to treat others with respect and kindness. Our small classes and impressive teacher to pupil ratio enable us to really focus on every child.

Reception at The Mall is a wonderful place to be, but do not take our word for it, come and see for yourself. We hope you will book your own individual tour with our Headmaster, David Price, and discover for yourself how we ignite a love for learning in our youngest pupils that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Current Reception Parents say...

The outdoor learning and nature area has been a big hit with our son. And the swimming pool. And the excellent school food.

My son has absolutely flourished in all areas from his time at the school in reception until his final year. He is so happy going to school every day and has made lifelong friends. The experience has been beyond our expectations.
