Year 5 – Mosque visit

13th November 23

Year 5 visited our nearest mosque as part of their Religious Studies syllabus and had a very informative lesson from the Imam. He told us all about the extensive community work that the mosque offers, such as worship, marriages, counselling and teaching. He emphasised that although a mosque is predominantly a Muslim place of worship it is still open to people from all faiths for the same services. The decorations and symbols that adorn the mosque were all explained and our pupils asked lots of very good questions. However, probably their lasting memories will be of the secret passage to the minbar (pulpit) and of the snacks that they were given.
