3 children looking at their own PCs

London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA)

13th March 23

Each term Year 4 learn a poem by heart which they discuss and perform in class.  In the summer term we are looking to provide these pupils with an opportunity to build on what they have been learning by sitting the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) entry level exam in Speaking Verse and Prose.

All Year 4 pupils will need to know two poems: one they have been learning in school and the other from a set list which will be on Teams. As well as reciting and performing the two pieces they should also be able to speak about the general content of the poems and the meaning of selected words and phrases.

Pupils do not have to take the exam if they do not want to but they will be expected to learn the poems.

Pupils will practise these poems at home, and in English and drama lessons, before having the opportunity to take the LAMDA exam in June at The Mall during the normal school day.  There is a fee of £41 for entry to the exam.  In order for us to host this exam we will need a minimum of twenty pupils taking part.  In order for me to gauge the level of interest I would be grateful if you would complete the following short form by Monday 13 March.

Pupils who are doing the Confidence in Communication sessions will be entered separately for this exam and do not have to do it twice.  They will however be expected to learn the poems for the English and drama lessons.
