Year 5 – Science

12th January 22

As part of our their work on Earth and Space, Year 5 have been looking at the relative sizes of the Earth, Moon and Sun, and at the distances between them, which are difficult to capture in conventional models and are far greater than most of us imagine. This leads onto work on the Earth’s rotation and tilt, which together explain day and night, the apparent movement of the Sun through the sky, time zones, the seasons, and the phases of the Moon – as well as a better understanding of gravity.
