Year 3 Visit Holly Lodge

24th February 25

Year 3 recently visited Holly Lodge in Richmond Park to experience life in the Victorian times. The pupils spent the morning in a Victorian school, writing on slates, learning to convert old money into new money and practising old cursive handwriting. The teacher was very strict and the pupils had to follow very strict rules!

In the afternoon, they transformed into Victorian maids, page boys, cooks and grooms. They learned to polish shoes and top hats, lay the table correctly, bake cakes, grind spices, do the washing with a dolly and a mangle and beat rugs. Year 3 had a wonderful time and it was brilliant to see the teamwork between them all during each of the activities and their enthusiasm to try new tasks.
