Year 3 and 4 Rugby

31st January 22

After two seasons of the rugby term being either cancelled or heavily modified Y3 and 4 have been back enjoying unrestricted rugby games sessions.

In Y3 pupils play a Tag version of rugby. Boys have been playing games and fun activities that encourage the key running, passing and catching skills required to make rugby a fast paced game.

For Y4 pupils a modified contact version of the game is used. Building on the TAG game, pupils are taught how to step in to create a tackle. Holding the opposition player to safety create a tackle. Already some fast paced and high scoring games have taken place. It is a real sense of excitement and achievement for pupils when they have a good run or make an important tackle. Matches against other schools are already being looked forward to by the boys.
